The Carver Two Decade Photo Gallery

This photo gallery, The Carver Two Decade Photo Gallery, depicts some of the stones I found, cut, and polished between 2005 and 2025—all from The Carver Agate Field of Far West Texas. None of what is shown came from anywhere except The Carver. I am still cutting and polishing my extensive stock of Carver stones and will bring new material to you as my time allows.

The Carver was the subject of three Rock and Gem Magazine articles which can be viewed on this site:

The Carver Agate Field: Does the Material Match the Hype? 2017

The Unicorn: Citrine Scepter and Yellow Agates, 2018

Captivating Find at the Carver Agate Field, 2020

These articles explain a great deal about the geological formation and oddities of the The Carver Agate Field.

This photo gallery is intended to illustrate the vast diversity of colors and types of agates and geodes as well as the truly extraordinary variety of the sagenitic materials found in The Carver agates, geodes, and jaspers.

Rock #3612 : Example of Sagenitic Materials

By way of over simplification, sagenitic materials are the ‘cool’ patterns and mineralizations displayed in these specimens, especially if viewed with enlargement or magnification on your computer or device. This enlargement will highlight the really extraordinary nature as well as the varied and complex rock formation that occurred at The Carver Agate Field over vast periods of time.

The Carver produced a large number and percentage of geodes, and importantly, geodes with extensive sagenitic inclusions—in other words, the geodes were not just crystal filled but also contained lots of other ‘cool stuff’. These 1356 photos of rock specimens from The Carver will be followed soon by an extensive gallery of Carver cabochons and designer freeform ‘cabs’ which I have cut and polished.

I hope you enjoy the geological splendor I have been blessed to find and enjoy over 20 years.
