The Latest Addition to the Islesboro, Maine Jewelry Collection

The Latest Addition to the Islesboro, Maine Jewelry Collection

Islesboro Jewelry #21 Check out the newest addition to The Shop: Islesboro Jewelry Pendant #21! I loved this east shore Islesboro, Maine stone so much, I created an angled, beveled, free-form design and a new style setting to make it exceptional. Another view The large sterling silver bail design was created to draw attention to this stone which is beautiful, yet subtle in its coloration, reminiscent of Maine’s coastal sunsets, black ledges, and granite headlands. This stone is a fine example of the totally unique colors and patterns found in a few exceptional Islesboro gemstones. And another view I hope you like it as much as I do. This was really fun to cut, design, and set. And, Spring is coming to Maine, which hopefully means more beach time for rock combing and potential beautiful rock discoveries!

New Product! Islesboro, Maine Gemstone Jewelry

New Product! Islesboro, Maine Gemstone Jewelry

This website was initially established and dedicated solely to the gems and geology of The Carver Agate Field of Far West Texas. While that focus remains as I continue to explore stones from The Carver Agate Field, I am also fortunate to be on an island off the coast of Maine which has beautiful, unique and interesting gemstones. Islesboro Jewelry #03 I have collected, cut, polished, and set some of these gems and hope you will enjoy seeing them and, perhaps, will choose to purchase a fragment of the Maine coast set in a handmade piece of jewelry. Visit the Shop to view the 20 new Islesboro Jewelry additions! The collection begins on Page 3 of the Shop. Enjoy! Islesboro Jewelry #17

New to the Shop: Pendants!

New to the Shop: Pendants!

After much feedback, I have started a new product, in addition to my silver bracelets. Pendants which are set in sterling silver or goldfill are the new product. The bracelets are only set in sterling silver due to the fact that gold prices are astronomical. The pendants use much less precious metal and are, therefore, more affordable. The pendants also allow for more unusual setting designs and can accommodate more variable stone shapes. The pendants are sold without a chain so that you can decide on the style, length, and weight of the chain that suits you, or use one you may already own. You will find these new Pendants beginning on Page 3 of the Shop. Enjoy them and let me know what you think! Sagenitic agate in goldfill wirewrap Large Carver agate cross-section

Watch the tour and then read below for more details on the completion of the new headquarters: The Museum The wall shelves display the best and most diverse specimens I have found on The Carver Agate Field. The shelves are made from local cedar trees I cut on my property and had milled by a neighbor on his ‘bandmill’ sawmill. They are rough but work well! The work and equipment tables are all made from wooden pallets I salvaged from the shop construction project. I added wooden legs with roller wheels on each to allow the easy movement of all the tables. They can be locked in place by brakes on each wheel. The table tops are left over sheathing from the building construction project. The black plastic cabinets and drawers also have wheels and brakes. These contain polished museum specimens that could not fit on the wall shelves. The […]

TexasAmethystAgate World Headquarters Takes Shape

TexasAmethystAgate World Headquarters Takes Shape

The new shop is incorporating a west facing wall which is nearly all glass. This will allow lots of westerly afternoon light and expansive views over the West Penobscot Bay located in mid-coast Maine. The south shop wall has five 3×3 foot windows to maximize morning sunlight. Natural sunlight is great when you are cutting and polishing stones, or undertaking fine silver- smithing activities. Lots of windows also help with the short Maine winter days which have, at best, dim diffuse sunlight even on the clearest of days. The shop takes shape The shop’s interior will be sheathed in white pine boards which are locally sourced. Heating, cooling, and humidity control are done by an environmentally sensitive heat pump. For backup when the electric fails, there is a wood stove which I ‘feed’ with dead and dying trees which I cut from the property. It sure is not West Texas, […]
